The Mailchimp Saga Continues…
Are you ready to strangle the monkey? I am!
There has been so much crazy stuff going on with Mailchimp lately. Lists merging unexpectedly, automations being capped at just one email unless you upgrade to a paid plan – WTF! And let’s not revisit the whole Shopify debacle...
Here are some of the changes to the FREE* Mailchimp Accounts that we are expecting in the next few weeks (not including the unexpected ones mentioned above:
- You will no longer be able to create any new audiences (lists)
- You will no longer be able to add new users (such as myself to help edit your account)
- You will no longer have have access to custom templates
- You will no longer be able to create multi-email automations (think welcome series and sales funnels) new automations will now be limited to just one email.
Apparently Free accounts will not lose anything that they have already setup (lists, users and templates) but will no longer be able to expand in any of these areas.
It really is no wonder that people are losing their confidence in the platform and are looking to jump ship.
If you are feeling the same way and are looking for a good, simple, easy to use platform then I highly recommend MailerLite. I actually started the transition to MailerLite myself a few months back and have been slowly recommending it to more and more clients.
I like to think of it as the lite version of ActiveCampaign and it is free for your first 1,000 subscribers.
Now, there was one litle hiccup for those with eCommerce stores as until last week MailerLite didn’t support Abandoned Cart emails however I received the good news email late last week that Abandoned Cart emails for Shopify and WooCommerce are now live. Here is the breaking news for those eager beavers who are keen to know more.
If you are planning on sticking with the Chimp and upgrading your account, please be aware that to keep all of the above you will have to select their second Standard pricing tier as the cheaper Essentials option still won’t give you access to the multi-email automations.
Check out MailerLite and if you have any questions or need help switching please feel free to send me a message.
*The latest information says that these changes do not affect paid accounts (as yet), only Free accounts are affected.
