What Do You Really Want?

Published by Mikala on

I’m just going to put it out there – I’ve been completely silent these past few months. No social posts, no blog posts and no newsletters. And there are a few good reasons…

Firstly, my partner and I separated. We’ve been together over a decade and done a lot in that time, but the relationship had well and truly run its course and she called it out. The timing (right before kids’ birthdays, year 12 exams and Christmas) led to an initial spike in my stress levels which resulted in a sudden and steep crash in my health.

But luckily because of all the work, learning and coaching I’ve been doing over the past two years I was able to recover in a matter of weeks, instead of months.

However, when I got back on top of things, I was faced with a brand new quandary… What do I want MY LIFE to look like now?

The life we create

I’m now in a very fortunate position. My daughter is a brand new adult and my son is about to start his final year of high school (Grade 10 – in Tassie Years 11 and 12 are called college). So while they’re pretty independent now, in three years time I’ll have no responsibility for any human being other than myself.

Whoa.

I can’t think of a single time in my adult life where I haven’t had at least some degree of responsibility for another human being which impacted my options and been a consideration in my decisions.

So I’ve spent the past few months doing a lot of thinking about how I want to live, where I want to live, what I want to do in my business and with my spare time. Because I’ve come to realise that there really are no boundaries for what I can or can’t do. Even with a chronic health condition. It’s how I go about it that makes all the difference.

What’s possible?

Which has prompted me to start asking my clients…

“If nothing was an obstacle (money, time, relationships, location etc) what is it you would really like to do with your time and in your business?”

Because so often we hold ourselves back thinking that now is not the time to go for our dreams.

But what if it is? What if now is exactly the right time for you to create the life and business you want?

Instead of taking on clients that pay well but the work is grinding and uninspiring to you, what if you could make decisions that would allow you to start doing what you really want to right now?

Nothing is impossible, you can always find a way to make what you really want happen in your life. You just need to be brave enough to step outside your comfort zone and do the work.

So for me, this year I’ve decided that whatever I do, it’s going to be slow and joyful.

Slow and joyful living

I start and end the day slowly, take regular breaks when I feel the need and allow myself lots of quiet time to rest, read and spend quality “present” time with my family, friends and sangha. If there’s something special I want to do that brings me joy, I work out a way to make it happen.

This is the life I wanted for my retirement, I’m giving myself the gift of having it now.

It means I’ve had to make some decisions on what really is and isn’t important to me and to be creative in some of my solutions. But because I took the time to get really clear on what I really want, it’s not a compromise.

So now I’m challenging you to answer that question…

“If nothing was an obstacle (money, time, relationships, location etc) what is it you would really like to do with your time and in your business?”

What’s possible for you?

What changes can you make to help you create the life you’ve always dreamed of right now?

As part of my slow and joyful practice for my business I’ve made the decision to take on no more than six clients at a time and as of right now I have just one spot left.

So if you’d like to have a conversation about how I can help you get clear on the life and business you really want and start taking steps now to make it happen right now, hit reply and let me know.

May you have an amazing 2023 x
